NGM: fuel prices remained below the average of neighboring countries
Fuel prices remained below the average prices of neighboring countries, and in order to protect families, the government continues to continuously monitor the evolution of prices – the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) confirmed in its statement on Friday.
For the sake of families, the government lowered the wartime fuel prices, as a result of which the population can now refuel for 48 forints in the case of gasoline, and 41 forints in the case of diesel, compared to their peak values in April and February.
The NGM stated that the government’s position remains unchanged: it is unacceptable and unfair that Hungarian families pay more for fuel than residents of neighboring countries. Therefore, the government constantly monitors and analyzes the evolution of fuel prices.
According to data published by the Central Statistical Office on Friday, the average price of 95-octane motor gasoline in Hungary was 595 forints, i.e. 14 forints cheaper than the average price of 609 forints in neighboring countries. The average weekly price of diesel fuel in Hungary was HUF 607, which was HUF 1 less than the average price of HUF 608 seen in neighboring countries.
