NGM: in the first 4 months of the year, domestic hotels registered nearly 10 million guest nights
Based on the latest data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH) and the National Tourist Information Center (NTAK), between January and April 2024, domestic hotels registered a total of around 10 million guest nights, which was almost 8 percent more than the turnover of the same period of the previous year, he pointed out. The Ministry of National Economy (NGM) commented on the data in its statement on Wednesday.
GDP több mint 10 százalékát biztosítjaIn the first four months of the year, 4.1 million guests arrived at Hungarian accommodations, which was 11.5 percent higher overall compared to the same period last year.
The ministry emphasized: the expansion of tourism consumption experienced in the first 4 months of this year contributes significantly to economic growth.
In April 2024, a total of more than 1.2 million guests arrived at Hungarian accommodations, which represents a decrease of only 1.3 percent compared to the previous year. Domestic accommodations registered a total of 2.9 million guest nights in April, which was 4.7 percent less than in the fourth month of 2023 due to fewer days off.
The data for April that are out of the first four months were influenced by the development of long weekends associated with holidays, because this year only one day of the four-day Easter long weekend fell on April, while, unlike last year, there was no long weekend connected to May 1. Taking all of this into account, the performance seen in April still indicates a substantial increase in tourism demand, which is also supported by the guest traffic during the Whitsun weekend in May, as the number of guest nights during this holiday produced a 6 percent increase – the NGM pointed out.
