NGM: the review of Airbnb regulations will only affect Budapest
In connection with the announcement made by the 26 tourism organizations, the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) states that a housing problem has developed in Budapest, which particularly affects young people and young families.
Therefore, the government considers the review of the Airbnb regulation – contributing to the management of problems related to the purchase and rental of apartments – as a housing issue as a top priority, the NGM told MTI.
They emphasized that, based on this, the government only wants to tighten the regulation of short-term housing rentals in Budapest. This also means that the planned measures do not affect short-term apartment rentals for rural tourism purposes, the new regulation under development will not affect their activities in any way, they added.
In its statement, the NGM indicated: the government continues to cooperate with all professional organizations of the sector and is committed to maintaining a lively professional dialogue.
