NGM: pensioners will be able to use VAT refunds extremely easily
Malicious comments and criticisms regarding the VAT refund of pensioners, without information on the exact regulations, are nothing more than simple, old-fashioned political sentiment-raising – this is how the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) responded on Monday to the statement of the National Association of Accountants.
Instead of fake news and political sentiment-raising, let’s stick to the facts! Pensioners will be able to use the VAT refund extremely easily – the NGM emphasized.
They confirmed that it is of utmost importance for the government that Hungarian families and pensioners have access to basic foodstuffs at affordable prices.
They recalled that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced in his annual review speech on Saturday that the government will refund the VAT content to pensioners in the case of basic foodstuffs such as vegetables, fruits and dairy products. This is a practical and effective solution, since, unlike the VAT reduction, which increases the profits of retail chains and suppliers, the VAT refund will certainly go into the pockets of pensioners.
“The measure represents targeted and substantive assistance for more than 2 million of our pensioners,”
– stated the Ministry of National Economy.
