NFKH: Fifty expired foods and products with manipulated labels were found in a store
About fifty food items that had expired a year ago and manipulated labels were found by employees of the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority in a store operated by a person from the Far East; the products were withdrawn from circulation and their distribution was prohibited, the NKFH told MTI on Tuesday.
According to the information, the official inspection determined that the shelf life of 46 products had expired, a significant proportion of them in May 2024.
About 19 items – gummies, chocolates, cookie rolls – did not have Hungarian language markings, which also does not comply with the relevant legal requirements. The traders could not even account for documents proving the traceability of certain products, so they could not prove proof of legal possession
– they wrote.
The statement notes that according to EU and Hungarian legislation, all food products on the market must also include certain mandatory labeling elements in the native language of the given country, such as ingredients, allergen information, or the shelf life. In stores operated in the Far East, it often happens that there is no Hungarian labeling or the information on the label is unclear, they added.
