New York mayor announces MeatOut Day for 20 March
New York mayor Eric Adams has declared: 20 March will be MeatOut Day for the second consecutive year, in all of New York City and its 8.8 million residents. Established in 1985 by the Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM), the initiative calls on New Yorkers no to eat animal products for a whole day. Adams has been following a plant-based diet since 2016, after he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
