New methods, new approach, old goals
In 2017 the inspections of the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) aim at whitening the economy, fighting tax fraud, motivating for behaviour that complies with tax regulations and creating better conditions for those do their business in a fair manner. NAV will pay special attention to the biggest taxpayers, invoice chains and real estate rental – informed Csilla Tamásné Czinege, deputy state secretary responsible for tax matters in the Ministry for National Economy at a press conference.
She added that in 2016 new inspection methods were introduced and a new approach was adopted by NAV, e.g. self-inspections were allowed for taxpayers. Thanks to these changes, tax payment discipline improved, checks became more efficient and the state’s revenue from taxes increased even at real value. NAV opines that it is especially important to perform tax investigations at the biggest taxpayers, because the 3,000 largest companies pay 64 percent of taxes in total.
