Netrisk: average travel insurance premium increased by five percent year-on-year during the ski season
In the two and a half months since the start of the ski season, the average premium for travel insurance policies taken out by Netrisk was 11,000 forints, which corresponds to a 5 percent increase on an annual basis – the insurance portal told MTI on Tuesday.
According to the statement, a quarter of travel insurance policies were spent on skiing during the period under review, which is practically the same as last year’s 26 percent rate.
According to Netrisk data, two-thirds of tourists taking out travel insurance chose Austria, Slovakia’s share was 13 percent, while Poland’s was 6 percent. Italian and French settlements accounted for 4 percent and 3 percent of insurance policies, respectively.
Similar to a year ago, ski insurance policies were taken out for an average of 3.5 days, and 80 percent of travelers visit foreign ski resorts by car
– they were informed.
Márton Besnyő, Managing Director of Netrisk, explains in the statement: most ski travel insurance contracts include helicopter rescue on the ski slopes, which can cost up to several million forints, so it is worth taking out insurance.
There may be differences between the premiums of different plans, so it is worth reviewing the entire offer, he added.
