PayU conquers Europe

The Polish Platnosci.pl system owned by PayU SA, being the leader of the domestic online payment market, enters new European countries. Together with expansion, the company implements a new image-building strategy.

The year 2011 is a very intensive time of PayU development as the company starts its operations on new European markets. In Poland we have been present since 2005 with a current market share of 42%. Since 2010 the company has been also pursuing business activities in Czech Republic and Romania where it is an unquestionable leader with over 90% of the market share. Soon we also plan to provide services in Hungary and in other European countries – says Marcin Jabłoński, Member of the Management Board of PayU SA.

PayU SA has been operating in Poland for 11 years. The companies forming PayU Group are owned by the international Naspers holding providing services based on different media and communication technologies. Naspers employs 15 thousand people all over the world, in Poland – 1,300, and indirectly owns many popular sites such as Allegro, otoMoto, otoDom, Ceneo, CoKupić, iStore, Gadu Gadu and Bankier.pl.

Initially, PayU focused on supporting payments on the allegro.pl platform. During its dynamic development, it acquired 42% of the Polish e-commerce market. The Platnosci.pl system owned by PayU is successfully used by the biggest online shops and sites e.g. Helion.pl, Komputronik.pl, Home.pl, n-k.pl, Toys4boys.pl, Onet.pl, Empik.pl.

We intend to use the experience gained during our operations on the Polish market to develop businesses in other countries of the Central and Eastern Europe. We know how to prepare an offer both for individual and corporate customers. This know-how supported by a reliable analysis of the market situation in a new country provides us with a considerable competitive advantage which is also due to the highest quality of our products – innovative IT platforms, excellent functionalities as well as high security level of transactions processed by us – adds Marcin Jabłoński.
