On September 16, representatives of several well-known American restaurant chains will arrive in Budapest to meet potential partners and present their expansion plans for the Hungarian market, according to Pénzcentrum. The event is organized by the U.S. Embassy and is part of a Central European tour that also includes Vienna and Prague.

A total of 11 major American brands will be represented at the event. Special attention will go to Wendy’s, which withdrew from Hungary more than two decades ago and is now considering a comeback. The introduction of Olive Garden, the American–Italian restaurant chain, is also expected to generate significant interest.

Pizza chains and new players

The portfolio also includes several pizza brands: Pizza Inn, Blaze Pizza, Russo’s New York Pizzeria, and Vocelli Pizza. In addition, Velvet Taco, Barberitos, as well as United Franchise Group, Reuse Systems, and Mobile Outfitters will be introduced to the Hungarian audience.

The event primarily targets entrepreneurs and investors with industry experience who are open to participating in the Hungarian launch of these brands.

Popeyes already confirmed

The expansion intentions are further underlined by the announcement earlier in September: Fusion Group Zrt. signed an exclusive agreement to bring the Popeyes brand to Hungary.

Thus, the September meeting could provide another opportunity for American chains to find Hungarian partners and establish a foothold in the local hospitality market.
