Lidl sells cars online in Germany
The website will offer the Opel Corsa for just under EUR11,000 and the Volkswagen Cross Polo for EUR14,000.
Schwarz Group-owned discount retailer
Lidl has begun selling cars at 25% off the suggested price in
Germany. Lidl is launching the site with German car distributor
ATG-Automobile. Despite the German economy being in recession and
unemployment at 8.3%, the discounter believes it can turn a profit in
an industry that is bucking the economic downturn. New car sales were
up 21% in February year-on-year, largely due to a government stimulus
package that pays people EUR2,500 to replace cars that are at least
nine years old with new ones.
