Beer sales in Germany fell by 0.6 percent in the first half of this year
In Germany, less beer was sold in the first half of this year than a year earlier, thus continuing the long-term downward trend in sales despite the European football championship.
According to data published on the website of the German statistical office, beer manufacturers sold around 4.2 billion liters of beer in the first six months of this year, which was 0.6 percent less than a year earlier.
Beer sales in July were 777 million liters, which is the lowest value for this month since 1993. Uncertain weather may also have contributed to the poor data, notes Destatis.
