In the past year, the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy helped its members with many services in the field of laboratory services, agricultural insurance, and various trainings.

In the past year, the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy (NAK) helped its members with a number of services. In 2023, several changes affected the laboratory service, which is one of the core activities of NAK Nonprofit Kft. Contracts and processes with partner laboratories were renewed, and a new administration system was introduced to support the service. The new software is able to track newer and newer services within a flexible framework, making it possible to quickly respond to the needs of farmers.

NAK’s laboratory services continue to be very popular among the membership, as is the creation of nutrient management plans based on results

In the past year, more than 6,600 samples were received for laboratory testing, while plans were prepared for 3,270 parcels by NAK specialists. The technical review of the sprayer, which was launched in the fall of 2022, remains popular, and the successful testing of the machines is continuously taking place throughout the country. Thanks to this service, it was not only possible to provide support to farmers in legal compliance in previously inaccessible places, but it also saves farmers money. The newly introduced electronic management diary (eGN) brought with it many challenges and uncertainties among producers, whose legal and software frameworks are still changing to this day. At the same time, NAK feels obliged to be available to farmers in this field as much as possible. The chamber launched the eGN data service as a test in four counties, and based on its results and experience, it can already support producers through its national network from 2024.

Farmers can also rely on the Chamber in matters related to agricultural insurance

NAK Insurance broker Ltd. has an assignment contract with more than 100 county colleagues. The goal is national coverage, so that every county has an insurance agent with whom producers can take out relevant plant insurance. NAK Insurance broker Ltd. has a contractual relationship with all (4) insurance companies dealing with agricultural insurance in Hungary. The high share in the segment indicates satisfaction with NAK Insurance broker Ltd. This year, the focus will be on the development of the online insurance interface, and in addition, it is expected that the range will be expanded with additional insurance products to cover risks found in agriculture – property, animals, agricultural machinery, drones. From 2022, the services of NAK Nonprofit Kft. will actively include the full organization and management of international study trips for small groups, which provide chamber members with an insight into new and modern technologies or the development of existing ones. In the past year, the chamber organized three such trips (USA-Texas, USA-Georgia, Egypt), where farmers from different sectors could gain valuable professional knowledge and contacts, thereby increasing the effectiveness of Hungarian agricultural production. In view of the great interest, members will be given the opportunity to participate in similar trips again this year.

The Chamber’s adult training institution closed its two adult training applications that started in 2019 in 2023, but they are confident that they will be able to continue the implementation of agricultural training this year.

In September 2023, the NAK Newsletter, presenting the professional work of the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy on a monthly basis, was published for the first time with a new name, form and structure. The NAK Newsletter processes the information and sector summaries of 16 topics in ABC order. In the compiled material, the county reports, as well as the professional questions and answers received from the counties, are given a separate chapter. As a result of the positive feedback, from October, in addition to all NAK employees and officials, members of the TAB network and the National and County delegates will also receive the information.
