5.6 million revenue for Andrew Lloyd Webber's wine
Andrew Lloyd Webber is a big wine freak. He told Will Lyons that he started collecting wine during his “preteenage years” when he was still at school.
That's a lot of years of wine collecting and the guy now has so many bottles, he's sure that he can't finish all of them in his lifetime. So Sotheby's will help Lloyd Webber auction off 8,600 bottles this Saturday at the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong.
Lloyd Webber once held a wine auction on May 20, 1997 and set a new world auction record for any wine sale ever held when it achieved nearly £3.7 million.
So expectations are quite high for the upcoming auction. The 747 lots are estimated to achieve around £1.8-2.6 million.
The attraction to Lloyd Webber's collection is the assurance that the precious wines have been kept in optimal conditions in the Lord's cellars at his 16th century home, Sydmonton Court.
The sale includes French wines from Domaine Leflaive, Domaine de la Romanee Conti and others.
