German Aldi and Lidl face decrease of consumers
Despite the crisis and the decrease in German disposable income the consumers of discount chains like Aldi or Lidl decrease.
According to the survey of GfK market research institute; in the first ten months of the year, the turnover of Aldi and Lidl decreased by 1 percent, compared to a year earlier. In particular, the non-food items observed for less interest by the researchers.
However, the survey also showed that on the market of cold cuts, discount chains rule: In the first ten months they had a market share of 47 percent, while in 1998, this rate was only 27 percent – reports Világgazdaság Online.
