Crisis in the ostrich industry in Hungary
The ostrich industry in Hungary is in trouble. Demand declined significantly, sales prices decreased, the profit is mainly goes to the Slovak, Romanian, Italian and Czech processors, so fewer and fewer people are dealing with ostrich breeding in Hungary – Zoufal Béla, ostrich breeder told MTI.
The market was exploded because the quarantine due to the bird flu was lifted last year in Africa and the prices decreased to 1.8 euros per kilo, while in 2015 ostrich meat cost 3.5-4 euros per kilo – he said. (MTI)
