Does not apply inflation-tracking fee adjustment to Magyar Telekom consumers
Expressing its commitment to boosting the Hungarian economy, Magyar Telekom will not implement the 3.7% inflation-tracking price adjustment for 2024 among its customers and will not increase the monthly fee of existing packages until at least the end of the first half of 2026. In addition, the company is renewing its mobile portfolio in response to changing customer needs, which will feature elements that can be combined more flexibly than before. The company will continue to develop its gigabit network and increase its outdoor 5G coverage proportional to the population.
In order to mitigate inflation and support the economic recovery, Magyar Telekom has decided not to implement the 3.7% inflation-tracking price adjustment announced in January and will not implement any unilateral price increases or inflation-tracking price adjustments among its customers until at least the end of the first half of 2026. Accordingly, monthly fee customers subject to the General Terms and Conditions for Consumers (GTC) will continue to pay the previous monthly fees after April 1, 2025. Magyar Telekom will amend the rules on inflation-tracking fee adjustments in the GTC accordingly.
Telekom aims to provide its customers with the best services on the best networks and to enable as many people as possible to benefit from the benefits of digitalization. That is why, as of April 11, 2025, the company will be offering a renewed mobile portfolio, which was developed based on customer feedback. The new packages provide greater flexibility than before, and some of their elements can be combined according to individual customer needs.
Magyar Telekom continues to work determinedly on the digitalization of the country, spending nearly HUF 350 billion on network development between 2019 and 2024. Thanks to intensive developments in recent years, the company now offers gigabit speeds to more than 3.8 million homes and businesses via its wired network, and as part of its mobile network modernization program, it has increased its outdoor 5G coverage to 74% of the population. Continuing this work, in line with its digital commitment, Magyar Telekom has committed to making its wired gigabit network available to 4.5 million homes and businesses by the end of 2027, and to increasing outdoor 5G coverage to nearly 99% of the population by 2026.
