It’s not worth waiting until January to provide data!

It is not worth postponing the uploading of the electronic Farming Log (eGN), by doing it as soon as possible you can already fulfill the year-long administrative obligation and avoid waiting in line in January – the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy draws attention. The good news is that thanks to the decision of the Ministry of Agriculture, producers have been given another year to prepare, and this year’s rules will also apply to the management of eGN next year.

Regarding the year 2023, the paper-based eGN must be uploaded to the electronic interface of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) by January 31, 2024, and the electronically maintained data for 2023 must be submitted on the electronic interface by this date. At the same time, the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy (NAK) recommends to producers not to postpone uploading the eGN until the last moment, as a completely new, broader data service in terms of content and the number of affected farmers is expected. Farmers who have already completed their activities this year should contact their village farmer or specialist advisor! By taking care of the affairs as soon as possible, the producer’s administrative obligations for this year can be closed and waiting in line in January can be avoided. It is important that all affected farmers fulfill their obligation to download and upload the eGN on time, since failure to provide data in the case of some subsidies may even result in the loss of the entire subsidy or a partial subsidy amount. Based on this year’s experience, the Ministry of Agriculture has decided that, in order to help farmers prepare thoroughly, it will be sufficient to upload the data of the Farming Diary once to the Nébih interface for the year 2024. The only exception to this is the spraying log. Thanks to the decision of the ministry, the data must be uploaded to the electronic management log from January 1, 2025, and the paper-based management logs for 2024 must be uploaded to the Nébih eGN interface by January 31, 2025 at the latest.

eGN aims to simplify the administrative obligations of farmers

This is a new public administration service into which Nébih integrates the data found in the currently separate e-spraying diary, Farming Diary and nitrate data sheet systems. The data content of the management diary is requested and checked by the Hungarian State Treasury during the verification of the support conditions. The eGN integrates the management log and the obligation to provide data to the authorities, which means that the WEB GN previously submitted in ÁNYK for those with AKG, ÖKO, NATURA 2000 areas will no longer be maintained, and the separate maintenance of the spraying log will also no longer exist. In addition, nitrate data must also be provided in the eGN. The obligation to keep a logbook applies to all those who undertake AÖP, use production-related subsidies, apply plant protection treatments, have AKG and ÖKO, or Natura 2000 areas, who farm in nitrate-sensitive or erosion-sensitive areas, in addition to others not listed above in the Rural Development Program tenders also require the management of the eGN.

However, the obligation to provide data does not affect everyone

In 2023, farmers who are required to keep a Farming Diary will only be required to keep a diary, not to provide separate data, in the case of production-related subsidies and erosion-sensitive areas of the Conditionality (JFGK1). In order to ensure that farmers have all the information necessary to complete the data provision, the NÉBIH has published information on log keeping on its website, and in the coming weeks the number of short videos available on the agency’s YouTube channel on the subject will continue to increase, the purpose of which is to help farmers fill in the eGN . NAK also provides assistance to farmers who are required to keep a log; village farmers hold group briefings and trainings on the subject.
