According to the news portal’s survey, 52 percent will choose the usual way again this year, since the Christmas tree is only a one-time issue per year. 19 percent will look for a smaller tree, 17 percent will look for a seller selling at a more favorable price, 8 percent will look for a cheaper variety, and only 4 percent will think about buying pine at all this year. Overall, the expenses will increase, because compared to last year, the proportion of those who will spend more than HUF 7,000 for a pine tree during the holiday season has increased from 49 to 67 percent. It will only be possible to say more precisely before Christmas, as 31 percent leave their shopping for the last week – they wrote.
The most popular variety, Nordmann, was chosen by 54 percent a year ago and 60 percent this year, even though it is the most expensive
22 percent would buy spruce, 15 percent would buy silver pine, and 3 percent of customers would take the other varieties. Also based on size, those that cost more are more popular, as 60 percent of those surveyed want a tree larger than one and a half meters for Christmas. Every eighth customer is looking for a ground-ball pine, and 25-30 percent choose an artificial pine, they added.
Agroinform emphasized that the tree planted as a Christmas tree is generally more environmentally friendly than artificial pine. Its cultivation is similar to that of other agricultural crops, and most of the discarded trees are composted, so neither their production nor their destruction significantly burdens the environment, and their turnover brings income to domestic producers – read the announcement.
