It wasn’t FMCG products that drove retail sales in June
The Central Statistical Office (KSH) has reported: like-for-like retail volume sales were up 4.1% in June 2022; adjusted for calendar effects, the sales growth was 4.5%. However, sales of grocery stores decreased by 0.3%, and food stores with a mixed-profile – these realise 75% of grocery retail – produced 1.1% lower volume sales. Food, drink and tobacco specialist shops saw their sales rise 2.5%. Petrol stations were the drivers of the sales growth, with a plus 23.6% volume sales performance. //
