Four hundred million HUF developments were implemented at the Fisheries Research Institute in Szarvas
Halasi-Kovács Béla, director of HAKI, said that out of the 393.4 million HUF received from the Hungarian Fisheries Operational Program (MAHOP), 19 lakes with feed canals, filling and drainage channels were established on 17 hectares in the Csordajárás area from July 2019.
The aim of the project was to build a lake fish farming facility, which provides an infrastructure background for the institute’s gene banking activities, the rearing of native fish species not typical of production practices, and the rehabilitation of several endangered species; along with breeding work to strengthen natural water stocks, he said.
