Kometa’s new giant investment in Kaposvár will create four hundred new jobs
The meat processing company Kometa 99 Zrt. is implementing a capacity expansion worth 45 billion forints in Kaposvár, which will create four hundred new jobs in the city – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced on site on Thursday.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, upon announcing the investment of Kometa 99 Zrt., the Minister reported that the Italian-owned meat processing company is implementing a capacity expansion worth 45 billion forints, for which the state is providing 15 billion forints of support, thus helping to create four hundred new jobs.
“With this investment, the capacities here will increase to such an extent with the new slaughterhouse, the new cooling system, the new boning and cutting lines that it will be possible to process 1.25 million pigs per year”
– he announced.
He then went on to say that
almost half of the products are now sold on international markets, and the development is also of great importance in addition to increasing export performance, as the company will participate in training future young employees.
“In addition to the fact that 80 percent of suppliers are Hungarian today, so there is now another opportunity for Hungarian farmers (…), we also agreed that Kometa will launch a serious supplier development program”
– he said.
He also mentioned that over the past ten years, 32 Italian investments have been made in Hungary, worth a total of 128 billion forints.
