This year’s Valentine’s Day can bring a quarter of a million domestic guests
Based on pre-booking data from the National Tourist Information Center (NTAK), Hungarian hotels can expect significant guest traffic on Valentine’s Day and the following weekend as well. The number of nights registered for February 14 is 10%, and the traffic expected for the weekend of February 16-18 shows a 12% increase compared to last year.
Half of the Valentine’s Day tourists arrive from home and abroad on February 14, and on the following weekend, between February 16 and 18, the majority, 55%, are occupied by domestic travelers. Nearly 60% of them choose rural destinations for couple recreation.
Domestic guests mainly explore Lake Balaton, Mátra-Bükk and the Budapest area, while those coming from across the border mostly explore Bük-Sárvár, Lake Balaton, Debrecen and its surroundings on Valentine’s Day. The most popular settlements will be spa towns, among which Hévíz and Sárvár are the leaders. While Zalakaros is in the top 3 among domestic guests, Bük won the podium among foreigners.
