Wheat is 24% cheaper than a year ago

According to AKI PÁIR data, food wheat was traded at an average producer price of HUF 67,700/tonne excluding VAT and transport costs in the third week of February. This price level was 24% lower than a year earlier.

Feed wheat traded at a producer price of HUF 62,000/tonne (-29%) in the same time period. Feed corn changed hands at an average producer price of HUF 67,700/tonne, which was about 18% less than a year earlier.

According to AKI slaughter statistics, in 2025 cattle slaughter in live weight terms increased by 24.2% compared to 2024. Data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reveals that Hungary’s live cattle exports decreased by 30.6% (68,100 tonnes) in 2025 compared to 2024, while their value reduced by 11.2%. The volume of beef exports was up 74.7% (8.4 thousand tonnes). The volume of beef imports dropped 4.7% (12.6 thousand tonnes), while their value augmented by by 29.6% during the period observed.

AKI PÁIR data show that the packing station price of cage-reared table eggs (M+L) in Hungary was HUF 66.71/piece in the first seven weeks of 2026, which was 3.1% higher than the average price in the same period of 2025. The price of table eggs (M+L) from deep litter systems rose by 9.1% to HUF 77.93/piece during the same period. The sales price of wines produced and sold domestically, without geographical indication, as well as those with protected geographical indication, rose by 64% to HUF 46,800/hectolitre in January 2026 if compared to the same period of the previous year.
