While inflation is under four percent, food prices have risen well above the average
The rate of inflation was substantially lower than expected in May, and all signs indicate that the rate of price inflation will slow down in the rest of the year.
In May, in a monthly comparison inflation was 0.2, in an annual comparison, the rate of inflation was 3.9 percent – reports the Central Statistical Office. Analysts' expected a substantially higher 4.3 percent annual rise in prices.
According to the datas of the statisticians, in a year, food prices increased with a higher proportion by 8.6 percent, the price increase of sugar was particularly significant (66 percent), while flour increased by 64.6 percent and oil by 18.6 percent – reprts fn.hu
