Nébih: Golden yellow grape disease has appeared in new wine regions
The laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Authority (Nébih) has detected the golden yellow grape disease in the Balatonfüred-Csopak and Eger wine regions, so the pathogen has already appeared in 17 of the 22 wine regions – Nébih announced.
Specialists from the regionally competent government agencies have begun plant health measures in both places.
All vines within a 1-kilometer radius of the affected plantations will be examined, and vines showing symptoms in the infected areas will be destroyed. The distribution and transport of grape propagating material from these areas is also prohibited, and an intensive detection and mandatory control program will be implemented in a buffer zone with a further 3-kilometer radius around the infection.
– they wrote.
The Nébih once again calls the attention of all vineyard owners to preventive control. The disease can only be controlled by using controlled, healthy propagation material and by regular protection against the vector that spreads it, the American grapevine cicada.
It is also important that suspicions of the disease are reported immediately to the plant health inspectors of the county government offices and to Nébih – the announcement reads.
