Nébih: new products have been added to the expiry guide of the Maradék program
New products – such as eggs, margarine, sandwich cream, sausage, salami, ham, bacon, hard cheeses, ready meals and coffee drinks – have been added to the expiry guide of the National Food Chain Safety Office’s (Nébih) No Leftovers program , which provides useful guidelines for the public, the commercial sector and charitable organizations on the usability of products with a shelf life after their expiration date – Nébih told MTI on Tuesday.
The guide also changed the recommended use-by date of frozen products after the expiry date, so that products made from mammals can be consumed for a maximum of 6 months after the expiry date, and frozen fish, poultry, vegetables and fruits for a maximum of 3 months.
They also pointed out that there are two types of expiration date markings on food products: products with a longer shelf life have a shelf life, and perishable goods have a shelf life.
The expiry guide can only be used for products with a shelf life. You should not experiment with consuming products that have expired.
At the same time, attention was drawn to the fact that special food intended for feeding babies and small children or formula milk substitutes cannot be consumed after the expiry date.
In addition, it is necessary to check whether the packaging of the product is unopened, undamaged and free of contamination, and it is also necessary to make sure that the product has been stored under the conditions prescribed by the manufacturer, for frozen products the storage temperature has not risen above -18 degrees Celsius.
