The spring inspection of the sale of grape and fruit propagating materials continued, during the action held at the Ónod National Animal and Exhibition Fair, the inspectors had to destroy hundreds of fruit planting propagating materials, the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) announced on Monday.
According to the information, during the joint inspection with experts from the county government offices and the National Tax and Customs Administration, the most common problems were with the quality of the propagating materials, but many deficiencies were also found with the labels. In the case of the rose stems, the lack of variety designation and documents proving the origin was striking.
It was announced that hundreds of fruit planting materials had to be destroyed because the sellers involved wanted to sell propagating material of unknown origin and problematic quality.
Among the fruit grafts, among others, apples, pears, quinces, plums and peaches, while in the case of ornamental plant planting materials, they decided to destroy on-site rose stems.
