Nébih: German sausage products were recalled
The National Food Chain Safety Authority (Nebih) warns on its website that travelers to Germany, such as to the Munich Beer Festival, and travelers to seven other affected countries should not consume sausage products made by Wilke Wurstwaren. Based on the information available so far, no products of the company have arrived to Hungary.
The agency said on the basis of information received on the EU RASFF on the evening of October 2, that the North Hessen Veterinary Office had immediately closed the Wilke Wurstwaren plant in Twistetal-Berndorf because it had linked two deaths and 37 cases to the company’s products.
According to the Robert Koch Institute, there is a 99.6 percent probability that Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium found in the company’s pizza salami and cooked sausage, is responsible for the disease. (MTI)
