Nébih: the national chief veterinarian, ordered the poultry to be kept closed
Bognár Lajos, the national chief veterinarian, ordered the mandatory confinement of poultry with immediate effect, as the presence of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus has been identified in several European countries in wild birds whose migratory route also affects Hungary, the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) said.
It was highlighted that the bird flu virus is currently mainly present in wild birds, but has also caused disease in foreign-bred poultry flocks in recent weeks. The migratory routes of migratory wild birds affect the whole territory of Hungary, therefore the national chief veterinarian declared the whole country to be a high risk in terms of the risk of the virus appearing.
