Nébih African swine fever in the eastern neighborhood of Hungary
The Romanian Animal Health Service detected African swine fever (ASF) about 4 kilometers away from the Hungarian-Romanian border. Due to the outbreak, some Hungarian border towns had to introduce animal health restraint measures – the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) published on its website.
It has been reported that African swine fever suspected to have broken out in Újberek (Bercu Nou; Szatmár county) in Romania at a farm that were confirmed on March 12 by preliminary laboratory tests. The Romanian Veterinary Authority has immediately taken the measures prescribed in the law, and the epidemiological investigation is in progress. (MTI)
