Nébih: the majority of anti-parasitic preparations for cats passed the tests
During the summer seasonal inspection, the experts of the National Food Chain Safety Office also examined the spot-on solutions against external parasites approved for cats, 8 of the 13 inspected products proved to be flawless, and in 5 products, the experts found an error related to the packaging – announced the Nébih on Monday.
In Nébih’s laboratory, the active ingredient content and uniformity of the products, i.e. the amount of solution that can be extracted from the pipette, and the density of the solutions were measured. The evaluation covered the information on the box as well as the instructions for use. The information on the packaging must be displayed in Hungarian in an easy-to-read manner. From the point of view of the instructions for use, it is expected that the license number, expiration date, storage regulations, target animal species, indications and contraindications, as well as the dosage and method of application, the duration of action, side effects, and warnings should be included on the packaging.
The tested parameters of the 13 veterinary medicinal products corresponded to those listed in the marketing authorization. The same cannot be said for the packaging: for four veterinary medicinal products, the information on the outer packaging, while for one the pictogram on the inside differed from what was included in the license. Official experts called on the manufacturers or distributors of the affected products to correct the errors, they said.
The summer seasonal inspection lasts until August 15.
