NAV: the public should only order from reliable, well-known online stores
The National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) advises the public to only order from reliable, well-known online stores; Websites that offer world brands at too low prices are most likely selling fake products – the tax office pointed out in a statement sent to MTI on Tuesday.
They also warned that it is recommended to save the purchase confirmation and that you should always keep the online receipt or the receipt related to the goods.
According to the announcement
the dynamic development of online trade puts both the logistics and the authorities to the test.
The NAV pays special attention to the customs inspection to prevent products that endanger safety or even life from being placed on the market.
Christmas is approaching and with it the number of online purchases is also increasing significantly: while last year 20 million small packages arrived in Hungary in the third quarter, this year this number has already approached 32 million.
And in the last three months of the year, a further increase of even more than 30 percent can be expected.
Parallel to the rising traffic, the chance of the appearance of companies that offer inappropriate, fake, health- or even life-threatening products may also increase, the office warned.
At the same time, it was indicated that NAV considers it a priority task to respond to the challenges of increased traffic with appropriate official tools.
