Orange and peach on top
Retail sales of fruit juice has been stable in terms of quantity but increased by 10 per cent in terms of value in the February 2007- January 2008 period. According to the Retail Index of Nielsen, the overall size of the market exceeds HUF 42 billion. Fruit juice is the fifth largest among the food categories monitored by Nielsen. The respective shares of different segments hardly show any change. Drinks accounted for 65 per cent of all sales, with 11 per cent for nectars and 24 per cent for juice. Orange and peach are the most popular flavours but the market share of orange continues to shrink. Sales of mixed flavours and multivitamin products are expanding. 401-2 500 square meter stores hold the largest market share among sales channels, while that of private labels dropped by 2 per cent to 30 last year.
