Lower sunflower prices, decreasing sowing area in Hungary
Sunflower sowing area decreased by more than ten percent this year in Hungary. Quality is very variable, but the yield is still high.
This year’s sunflower plantation was 628,000 hectares in Hungary, only 89.2 percent of last year’s, while it continues to exceed the average of the previous five years – Concordia Közraktár Zrt. wrote in its report. Among the industrial sunflowers, we distinguish normal and high oleic content varieties. The price of the latter can be up to 20 percent, about 20 thousand forints, and this year it increased, while the traditional sunflower decreased somewhat. However, the current low price level is expected to be followed by an increase. (agrarszektor.hu)
