The barley harvest to be finished soon
90 percent of the 218,000 hectares of arable land of autumn barley has been harvested, and although the yield of 5.5 tonnes per hectare is slightly below last year’s level, crop yields have already exceeded 2018 due to the increasing crop area. So far 1.08 million tons have been added to the warehouses – the National Agricultural Chamber (NAK) told MTI.
The highest yields were reported from Tolna County with 6.6 tonnes per hectare, followed by Vas County with 6.3 tonnes and Fejér County with 6.1 tonnes. Quality is changing in every region – he added. (MTI)
