NAK: The Facts for Taste campaign is starting a real change
Based on the experiences of the first two months, the Facts for Taste campaign is starting a real change, which focuses on the role of meat, dairy products and eggs in a healthy diet, as well as sustainable practices of responsible animal husbandry, while highlighting the social and economic significance of Hungarian agriculture – stated the vice president of the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) responsible for general agricultural affairs on Wednesday in Mikófalva, Heves County.
At the press event presenting Remény Farm, located on the outskirts of the settlement, Katalin Süle reminded us about the launch of the campaign, which will run from June to November: in recent years, many misconceptions, half-information and extremist opinions have come to light regarding animal husbandry, meat consumption and dairy products. These not only confuse consumers, but also discredit the work of those working in agriculture, which is why they decided to launch the program “Taking Facts to Taste”, which is “based not on emotions, but on facts”, he said.
If consumers see more clearly based on facts, they can make more conscious decisions and this can affect their entire lives – he added
He indicated that several thousand people have participated in their campaign events so far in the past 2 months: their information published on social media and websites has been viewed by over 2 million, and the feedback confirms that the initiative is starting a real change. He said that so far they have primarily focused on spreading knowledge, thus presenting popular misconceptions about meat, including dealing with, for example, carcinogenic effects, saturated fats and antibiotic residues. In addition, they examined the nutritional content of pork, beef and poultry, the vitamins and nutrients found in different parts of meat, and the offal. They also presented which parts of meat are good for what in terms of poultry, beef, pork and mutton, but they also talked about eggs, the ideal nutrient intake (smart plate), misconceptions and facts about animal husbandry and its impact on the environment – Katalin Süle listed. She underlined: they do not want to convince anyone, but at the same time they try to help people navigate and paint a realistic picture of how domestic animal husbandry is becoming increasingly modern and sustainable, and that behind Hungarian meat, dairy products and eggs there are real people with expertise, responsibility and integrity. They aim for their initiative to be not just a campaign, but an attitude-shaping movement that will determine how we view our food in the long term.
According to the press release published at the event, the educational content of the Facts for Taste campaign includes video series, reports, expert interviews and articles, which provide professionally based information to help you navigate issues related to nutrition, animal husbandry and meat consumption.
Dietician Adrienn Szabó has joined the campaign, providing the scientific basis, while the chamber’s agricultural experts present the farming processes in a way that is easy to understand. The face of the campaign is Zoltán Szécsi, a three-time Olympic champion water polo player. Introducing Remény Farm, owner Dávid Goldmann said: their business is a family farm based on grazing livestock. In addition to a hundred cattle, they also keep sheep and poultry. The products they produce are sold directly to consumers in Budapest.
