NAK: to maintain the balance of the Hungarian pig sector is everyone’s interest
Due to the spread of African swine fever in the Far East, the pig market in the world has changed considerably, causing problems in Hungary as well. The National Chamber of Agrarian Economy (NAK) initiated an extraordinary meeting with domestic retail chains, slaughterhouses, pork processors and breeders to solve this problem.
In recent months, the prices of live pigs have risen significantly in the leading foreign markets and in Hungary as well; however, the prices of meat products did not follow the increase in the cost of raw materials. All this brings many domestic slaughterhouses and meat production plants into a difficult situation.
