NAK-MAGOSZ: We will use all means against Brussels’ new destructive measures
MAGOSZ and NAK strongly reject the measure proposed by the European Commission the other day, with which they would extend the completely free import of Ukrainian foodstuffs for another year. The Hungarian farmers will act against this with all available means, most decisively!

The Association of Hungarian Farmers and Farmers’ Cooperatives (MAGOSZ) and the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy (NAK) were the first in the European Union to indicate – during negotiations and demonstrations – that the thoughtless decision of Brussels regarding Ukrainian goods will destroy the entire agriculture of the EU and make it impossible in the future. GMO products of uncontrolled quality, treated with prohibited chemicals, can pose a threat not only to consumers, but also to EU agriculture. If the European Commission continues to maintain this unfair competition, it will cause mass bankruptcy of European farmers, including Hungarian ones.
We support the demands of Western European farmers who, in addition to Brussels, are also affected by the measures of their own governments
The Hungarian government provides us with the conditions for which the producers of the Western countries took to the streets, even without demonstrations, in a national capacity.
Among other things:
- the diesel excise duty refund has been and will continue to be provided to us
- the tax system for family farms and primary producers is also unique in Europe
- we banned the possibility of levying land tax
- our country was the first to close its borders to Ukrainian agricultural imports, going against the decision of the European Commission
Hungarian farmers stand by the Hungarian government, which also protects our interests against Brussels. In order for European farmers to act in a unified manner, we are also in constant consultation with the V4 and other European interest groups. The struggle of Western European farmers with Brussels, often with their own government, indicates the gravity of the problem, so we must fight together to ensure food self-determination and quality food!
