The National Chamber of Agriculture and Food is helping its members with a new service: village economists prepare applications supporting farm transfer cooperation for free, submit payment applications and also help with the administration of project closure – the National Chamber of Agriculture and Food (NAK) told MTI on Tuesday.

The announcement of the new service was justified by promoting generational change and strengthening the social and economic sustainability of family farms. Applicants for the application, which can be submitted from August 28, will find an expert village economist in every county. Those who contact them will be signed into a cooperation agreement with NAK as a mandatory annex to the application – they wrote. NAK reminds: the Farm Transfer Act provides an opportunity for older farmers to transfer all assets related to their farm (land, other real estate, machinery, property rights, company shares) to the younger generation in a single farm transfer contract. The tender announced for farm transferors provides financial support for concluding this contract and for the successful transfer of the farm.

They are eligible for the tender

According to the announcement, farmers who will reach the old-age retirement age by the time the farm transfer is completed, have been farming for at least 10 years, and undertake to end their agricultural activity after the transfer can apply. The amount of the support depends on the size of the farm transferred, and varies between 4 and 20 million forints. NAK concludes a cooperation agreement with those farmers whose applications are prepared by village economists, which is a mandatory annex to the tender – the chamber indicated. A professional video published on the NAK website provides information on the transfer of farms, the announcement reads.
