We can expect a larger wheat harvest in the EU this year
The International Grains Council (IGC) first published its forecast for the 2025/2026 marketing year in March. They indicate a global wheat harvest of 807 million tons, 8 million tons more than the previous season.

According to Tallage’s information in March, winter wheat can be harvested from 21.6 million hectares (+6 percent) in the European Union in the 2025/2026 season. In France, 33.4 million tons (+30 percent) can be harvested from 4.7 million hectares (+12 percent). In Germany, 21.1 million tons (+16 percent) are projected to be harvested from 2.8 million hectares (+10 percent), and in Poland, 12.8 million tons (+3 percent) from 2.4 million hectares (+1 percent). In Romania, farmers can harvest 10.7 million tons (+6 percent) of wheat from 2.3 million hectares (+3 percent). In Hungary, experts from Tallage indicate a harvest of 5.3 million tons from 960 thousand hectares.
According to AKI PÁIR data, table wheat was traded at an average producer price of 84.2 thousand forints/ton excluding VAT and transport costs in the last week of March
This price level exceeded the one a year earlier by 30 percent. Feed wheat traded at a producer price of 82.8 thousand forints/ton (+37 percent) at the same time. The May quotation of wheat on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME/CBOT) ranged between 194–201 dollars/ton between March 24 and April 4. At the same time, the May quotation for the crop on the Paris Commodity Exchange (Euronext/MATIF) fluctuated between 218 and 222 euros/ton.
