Live cattle producer price increases significantly
According to AKI slaughter statistics, in January-October 2024, cattle slaughter in live weight was 6.8 percent lower than in January-October 2023. Cow slaughter, which accounts for two-thirds of all slaughter, was 18 percent lower, bulls by 9.7 percent lower, while heifers increased by 2.5 percent during the same period.

According to KSH data, Hungary’s live cattle exports increased by 1.9 percent (48.9 thousand tons), while their value decreased by 2.9 percent in January-September 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. According to AKI PÁIR data, the young bull producer price was 1,106 forints/kilogram of carcass warm weight in the 1st-49th week of 2024, an increase of 40 percent compared to the previous year. The price of slaughter heifers was 43 percent higher and that of slaughter cows was 31 percent higher during the period under review.
