A big change is happening in e-commerce
The introduction of time window delivery is an important advancement in the field of e-commerce, as it allows customers to plan delivery more flexibly and predictably. Time-slot delivery can reduce the likelihood of unsuccessful deliveries and customer dissatisfaction, increase competitiveness, and improve the efficiency and coordination of logistics operations. Customers can expect narrower time windows and increased market competition in the future, according to a McKinsey & Company study.
For customers, it is particularly important that time-window delivery makes delivery times more predictable. Additionally, flexibility creates predictability in their scheduling, as they do not have to wait for the courier to arrive all day. Time-slot delivery can also increase customer satisfaction and brand loyalty.
Delivery tailored to customer needs is a key factor in the competitiveness of e-commerce. Online shops and other e-commerce players generally specify a time range of 1-5 days in Hungary, but one-hour time windows are becoming increasingly common. Restaurants and fast-food chains typically offer delivery within half an hour. The length of time slots depends on the complexity of the logistics process, according to Dr. Károly Sáfár, the representative of DODO in Hungary, who spoke to Pénzcentrum.
The advantages of time-slot delivery are not only obvious to customers. Time windows can help customers, carriers, and suppliers plan and manage their resources more effectively. Time windows can help coordinate successful and efficient logistics operations, increasing the competitiveness of companies.
