Márton Nagy: more and more French companies can come to Hungary
Hungarian and French economic cooperation is exemplary, trade relations are unwaveringly strong, and French businesses are a significant building block of the Hungarian economy – stated the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) in a statement on Tuesday at the opening event of the season of the Hungarian-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Márton Nagy. Minister gave a lecture for the second time after last January.
In addition to the French ambassador Claire Legras, the event was attended by leaders of companies operating in Hungary, such as Auchan, Cofidis, Electrolux and Sanofi.
The Minister of National Economy emphasized: Hungary’s goal is to further strengthen its role as a meeting point, which is why it strives for cooperation based on mutual respect with all its partners. Hungarian-French trade relations are unwaveringly strong, French businesses are a significant building block of the Hungarian economy. France is the 5th largest investor in Hungary, as French companies account for about 6 percent of the 100 billion euros of foreign working capital.
According to the statement, the minister recalled that between 2016 and 2019 France was the 4th largest investor, and at the same time expressed the hope that France could reach this position again. The 425 French companies operating in Hungary ensure the livelihood of 41,000 families, and their sales revenue exceeds HUF 3,700 billion.
