Márton Nagy: the most important task of tourism is to digitize the sector to the highest possible degree
On Thursday, the Minister of National Economy participated in the formal meeting of the Competitiveness Council of the European Union in Brussels, where, in addition to issues related to competition law, internal market and sustainable growth, the situation of the tourism sector was also reviewed. During the meeting, Márton Nagy emphasized that the goal in the period up to 2030 is to increase competitiveness – announced the Ministry of National Economy (NGM).
According to the head of the ministry, there are three key elements to enhancing competitiveness: the successful implementation of the double transition, i.e. the green and digital transition, the opening towards both western and eastern markets, and the continuous reduction of bureaucratic burdens.
He pointed out that the European Union has been losing its competitiveness against global competitors for decades. This process has accelerated in recent years due to runaway energy prices, the economic and trade consequences of crisis situations, and the protectionist measures of the United States and China. The risk of over-regulation is also high in the Union. Adequate answers to long-term challenges must be found in order to significantly reduce the growth and innovation gap between the EU and its global competitors.
