Henkel Hungary has been cooperating with the Miracle Lamp Foundation for more than 5 years in order to fulfill the wishes of seriously ill children. While in the past two years, colleagues could increase the value of donations with virtual sports challenges, this year the foundation won a grant of 10,000 euros with an application from the company’s “Make an Impact on Tomorrow” volunteering program. With all this, the wishes of a total of 30 life-threateningly ill children have been fulfilled and the company has contributed to the hospital rehabilitation of another 210 children.

At the end of the year, Henkel’s international “Make an Impact on Tomorrow” voluntary employee initiative received a grant of 10,000 euros to the foundation. As part of Henkel’s international employee volunteering program, which was launched in 1998, it supports the voluntary charitable activities of the company’s employees with financial contributions, product donations, paid leave or technical background. The target group is children, young people, self-help groups and the elderly. Henkel employees can submit applications for the organizations they support on a quarterly basis in five major topics. Applications are judged by Henkel’s central CSR team. This fall, Dr. Ágnes Fábián, the managing director of Henkel Magyarország Kft., submitted a successful application as an ambassador of the Miracle Lamp Foundation.

“I am very touched by children’s fates, especially sick children. I consider the sacrificial activity of the Miracle Lamp Foundation to be important and indispensable, which is why I gladly accepted the role of ambassador, which I was asked to do in 2017. Since then, I have been willing and dedicated to helping their work. I am happy that the dreams of even more children can come true thanks to my successful application,” said Dr. Ágnes Fábián.

Henkel Hungary’s Laundry & Home Care business is also connected to the Foundation. In 2020, a virtual sports initiative was created under the title “Budapest to Tokyo”, where on the “My Virtual Mission” platform, participating colleagues could lead their own individual sports activities, and by converting their performance into kilometers, they not only symbolically completed the 9,060 km as the crow flies to the Japanese capital distance, but also supported the Miracle Lamp Foundation selected by the team with HUF 4.9 million. There was no stopping, last year the team virtually won the football EC. On the My Virtual Mission platform, the task this time was for the participants to reach the Puskás Arena after traveling 11,921 km, starting from Henkel’s office in Budapest, touching all 11 stadiums. The team of nearly forty people from the Laundry & Home Care business successfully completed the distance and supported the Miracle Lamp Foundation with HUF 100,000 per participant. Summing up the team’s and individual achievements, they finally collected HUF 4.5 million in support.

Thanks to the donations of the past years and the support at the end of this year, Henkel has so far contributed more than HUF 15 million to the work of the foundation

Children who are seriously ill usually ask for material wishes, such as a phone, a laptop or even a playground at home if they cannot go to the community, but some want to go to a soccer match or Disneyland, or perhaps meet a celebrity.

“In 2020, 2021 and this year, with Henkel’s help, we were able to fulfill the wishes of more than 30 life-threateningly ill children, and they also contributed to the rehabilitation of 210 hospitalized children with the necessary supplies for the Medicinal Magic program. Our ambassadors usually do everything they can to help promote the foundation with their contacts, their own company programs, and donations, since we can fulfill the wishes of sick children only through continuous support. As our dedicated supporter for years, Ágnes Fábián does her best to help the mentioned children. We can make the dreams of roughly 240-260 children come true every year, but last year, as an absolute record, the wishes of 305 children were fulfilled, and this year we are approaching 300. Of course, one eye is crying, because there are many sick children, but the other eye is happy because so many children are happy and happy that they could get something they never dreamed of,” added Erzsébet Szilvágyi, head of communications and marketing of the Miracle Lamp Foundation.
