István Nagy: small producers will get new help
Small producers will receive new help and facilitations, taking advantage of EU opportunities, they will receive special support – said Minister of Agriculture István Nagy in a video published on his Facebook page on Sunday.
He added that a ministerial decree eases the hygiene conditions for the production and sale of small quantities of local food. Thanks to the decree, not only natural persons can carry out small-scale food production, but also family farms of original producers and social farms.
According to the minister, the food hygiene conditions for the handling and sale of killed game will also be simplified
The new regulation enables butcher shops to receive fresh game meat and to produce meat products from it. The minister emphasized: their goal is to provide customers with as much fresh and safe food as possible directly from producers. A short supply chain is the basis of responsible and environmentally conscious shopping. This enables fast and efficient delivery of products from the producer to the consumer – said István Nagy.
One of the stages of the process is the local farmers’ market, which has been experiencing a renaissance in recent years
That is why the Ministry of Agriculture is paying special attention to supporting domestic small producers and expanding their sales opportunities, the head of the ministry said. He added that there are already 321 farmers’ markets nationwide, and more than 23,000 are engaged in primary producer activities. “Our goal is to keep production in Hungarian hands from the farmland to the table and increase Hungarian added value,” István Nagy stated.
