According to István Nagy, the ATM regulation, which ensures unrestricted trade for Ukraine, has a significant impact on the agricultural sectors of the EU. It must be said that it threatens the stability of the agricultural sectors and the future of the producers, said the head of the ministry, adding: Ukraine’s agricultural exports were originally aimed mainly at third countries, but since the outbreak of the war, they have been arriving on EU markets, causing significant disturbances.
According to the post, the differences between production standards put EU producers at a competitive disadvantage
The Minister of Agriculture therefore considers it unacceptable to extend the ATM Regulation in its current form until June 2025, considers it necessary to amend it, and urges the introduction of protective measures to protect the European agriculture and food industry. Until this happens, the government will protect both Hungarian producers and consumers by closing the borders, István Nagy said.
