István Nagy: In Hungary, the population is provided with high-quality, safe food
It is important to keep in mind that the demand for food is relatively inelastic, the everyday ingredient will always be needed, therefore a prudent investment in the sector, a value-creating investment will always pay off – said Minister of Agriculture István Nagy at the 15th Business Days conference in Tapolca on Tuesday.

According to the ministry’s statement, the minister pointed out that due to the war, the energy crisis caused by Brussels sanctions and the drought, food security challenges unseen for decades are occurring in many parts of the world. In Hungary, the crisis resistance of the sector is proven by the fact that Hungarian agriculture has ensured the supply of high-quality, safe food to the population in the past two years, while output and agricultural exports have increased. For this, it was also necessary to treat agriculture and the food industry as a strategic sector, giving the appropriate level and degree of government attention and support, the head of the ministry emphasized.
“In order to remain competitive in the medium and long term, it is essential to modernize the sector. In the coming period, very significant political tools will help to renew the agricultural economy. As a result of the developments, the competitiveness and input efficiency of the sector will increase, which will contribute to the management of most of the challenges”
István Nagy added.
