Big transformations are taking place at SAP
SAP, the German software company, has announced that it plans to cut around eight thousand jobs worldwide as part of its “Next Level Transformation” program. As part of this, more than four thousand workers in Europe may be affected, of which 2,600 jobs may be lost in Germany.
A company spokesperson said this restructuring program focuses on SAP’s strategic growth areas, such as Business AI. Internal job opportunities or voluntary programs are offered to the employees concerned, and there is close cooperation with the social partners.
However, the European Works Council criticizes SAP’s restructuring, particularly the job cuts at corporate headquarters. According to the works council, the management did not sufficiently justify the measure and did not provide accurate information about the shortcomings. The name of the program, “Next Level Transformation”, according to the unions, is just a euphemism for downsizing.
